Stay Vocal and Biokleen
Hi! My name is Alex Eaves and I run STAY VOCAL, a Green America certified ReUse Apparel company. About half of our apparel line is made from t-shirts that were going to be destroyed. We simply cover the original design with a patch or screenprinted logo. But the other half of our apparel is found at thrift stores and through donations, allowing us to offer more unique items to our customers. And that’s where our friends at Biokleen come in.
Now we can’t just take preworn garments and print right on them, so we wash and treat all of them first. And we wouldn’t be Green America certified if we used any ordinary detergent. That’s just one of the reasons we use Biokleen. We also use it because it works great! Wow, this is sounding like a commercial already! But if you’re already on the website, it’s all good. Another reason that we enjoy using Biokleen, specifically the Premium Plus Laundry Powder, is that we can reuse the box it comes in to ship out STAY VOCAL orders, as we reuse packaging for all of our shipping.
Beyond the detergent, I have also used some of Biokleen’s other household products and was pleasantly surprised at how well they work. Take this story for example. I had a great ReUse couch in my last apartment, but it had some unsightly stains on it. When I got my first bottle of Bac-Out Stain & Odor Eliminator, I decided to give it a try on the couch. All it took was a couple of scrub and dry sessions and the stains were gone. This was an exceptionally good move because when I recently moved out, I was able to sell the couch on craigslist with no problem. As you may have guessed, reusing is a big part of my life. Other items that I reuse are glass jars to store different household items in and glass bottles, so I don’t have to use disposable cups on the road. The problem with these is that the labels don’t always come off easily. There’s always some part of the the label adhesive that just doesn’t want to come off and that’s where Biokleen’s Citrus Soy Solvent has really come in handy, as it easily gets all of the residue off.
Needless to say, I’m a big fan of Biokleen and everything they offer. They make reusing a whole lot easier for both STAY VOCAL and myself. I certainly look forward to building a great relationship with them. If we’re going to make this world a better place, we certainly can’t go it alone.
