Let's be honest – pet stains are inevitable. No matter how well potty trained your pup may be, accidents happen. And trust me, nothing’s worse than needing to clean up a pet mess and not having the right cleaning products to get the job done.

Thankfully, I never have to worry about being unprepared to tackle tough pet stains ever since having Biokleen Bac-Out Stain & Odor Remover in my cleaning arsenal. This has been a lifesaver for me to get out all of my dog stains including the worst offenders – urine, poop, and vomit!

After having had to clean up my fair share of accidents from my two Pomeranians, Stella, and Alvin, I feel like I know a thing or two about getting out stains. And I’m spilling my secrets! Consider this your go-to guide for getting urine, poop and vomit out of your carpet.

HOW TO GET PET URINE OUT OF CARPET

Start by soaking up as much of the urine as possible. I recommend using a thick layer of paper towels, but cloth towels or newspaper will work also. Press down or stand on this padding for about a minute to draw as much liquid out as possible. Replace the towels or newspaper as necessary until the area is barely damp.

Now it’s time to treat the stain. Saturate the stained carpet with Biokleen Bac-Out Stain + Odor Remover and let sit for five minutes or more if needed. By letting Biokleen Bac-Out sit on the stain longer, it will continue to break the stain down until it’s completely gone. Blot the affected area with a rag to completely remove the stain. For tough urine stains you may need to repeat the steps several times before the stain is completely gone. After the urine stain is gone, I recommend going over the area with cold water. I saturate a rag with cold water and blot the area then let it air dry.

HOW TO GET POOP OUT OF CARPET

Getting pet poop stains out of carpet requires a little more work than urine stains. To start, I recommend putting on gloves. This makes cleaning up much easier as you’re not worrying about getting poop on your hands.

Once your gloves are on, grab a roll of paper towels, a piece of cardboard or a spatula that you’re okay with pitching after the cleaning, and a garbage bag. If your pet’s poop is firm, you can simply pick it up with a paper towel and dispose of it in the garbage bag. If you have soft or liquid poop, carefully scoop the poop from the carpet using the cardboard or spatula. Make sure to try your best not to push it into the carpet. You want to get to a point where all you have left is a stain. There should be no standing poop left on the carpet.

Now it’s time to treat the stain. Blot the poop stain removing as much moisture from the carpet as possible. This will make treating the stain easier. To remove the stain, saturate the carpet with Biokleen Bac-Out Stain + Odor Remover and let sit for five minutes or more. Blot the stained carpet with a rag to completely remove the stain. For tough feces stains you may need to repeat the steps several times before the stain is completely gone. After the poop stain is gone, I recommend going over the area with cold water. I saturate a rag with cold water and blot the area then let it air dry.

HOW TO GET PET VOMIT OUT OF CARPET

The worst of the offenders, especially the yellow bile vomit. You’ll treat these stains much like poop stains. I recommend grabbing gloves, a roll of paper towels, a piece of cardboard or a spatula that you’re okay with pitching after the cleaning, and a garbage bag.

Once your gloves are on, carefully scoop up any standing vomit from the carpet, trying your best not to spread or mash it into the carpet. If your pet’s vomit is liquid or bile, start by soaking up as much of the vomit as possible. I recommend using a thick layer of paper towels. Press down or stand on the towels for about a minute to draw as much liquid out as possible. Replace the towels or newspaper as necessary until the area is barely damp. You want to get to a point where all you have left is a stain.

To treat the stain, blot the stain removing as much moisture from the carpet as possible. This will make treating the stain easier. Next, saturate the carpet with Biokleen Bac-Out Stain + Odor Remover and let sit for five minutes or more. Blot the stained carpet with a rag to completely remove the stain. For tough vomit stains you may need to repeat the steps several times before the stain is completely gone. After the vomit stain is gone, I recommend going over the area with cold water.
