Summer’s here! It’s the season for juicy berries and peaches, ripe watermelon, refreshing cucumbers, ruby red tomatoes and so much more. This list barely skims the surface of the seasonal summer produce. One of my favorite ways to take advantage of the abundance summer has to offer is to make a fruit crumble. This easy dessert recipe is foolproof. You can throw it together on a weeknight or make it for a gathering since it’s always a crowd-pleaser.

I also love that this fruit crumble can be made with any seasonal fruit. Berries, peaches, nectarines, plums, rhubarb, apples are all fair game here. My favorite version (which I’m sharing below!) is a mixed berry crumble that uses strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. The berries burst to release their sweet juice that mingles with the crunchy oat crumble topping. It’s the perfect summer dessert!

I recommend Biokleen Produce Wash to wash all your summer produce before enjoying or using in a recipe like this mixed berry crumble. Biokleen Produce Wash uses the cleaning power of plant-based surfactants to remove excess debris and clean the produce.

Since fruits and vegetables are exposed to less than clean environments as they make the long journey from farm to table, it’s important to wash all of your produce before enjoying it. Even if you grow your own produce, using a produce wash is helpful to remove any dirt or bugs that may still be lingering on the produce.

The best part?! Biokleen Produce Wash couldn’t be easier to use. For bulk washing, place the produce in a large bowl. Fill the bowl with water so that the berries are completely covered. Add 1 tablespoon of Biokleen Produce Wash for each 16 oz of water. Soak the produce for 2 minutes. Use your hand to swish the produce around in the water. Remove the produce or pour into a colander and rinse thoroughly. For washing produce with skins (like watermelon, apples, tomatoes, etc), apply the full strength Biokleen Produce Wash directly onto the produce. Gently rub allowing food to soak for 1 minute. Rinse thoroughly before enjoying.

I can’t talk about summer produce without mentioning stains! The only downside of taking advantage of the abundance of summer fruit and vegetables and the inevitable stains that come with it. Nothing says summer like biting into a freshly sliced watermelon and having the juice dribble down your chin onto your shirt! Thankfully, Biokleen has an all-natural solution to cleaning up the food stains. My go-to stain-fighting cleaning routine starts with Biokeen’s Bac-Out Stain & Odor Remover to pre-treat stains. I follow up by tossing the clothes in the washing machine using Biokleen Citrus Laundry Liquid for the perfect wash. Once in the dryer, I always use Biokleen Citrus Dryer Sheets. They soften the clothes and leave them smelling fresh and clean. Plus, there's never any static!

Now that you know how to wash your produce and get out those tough summer stains, here’s the recipe!

Serves 6-8

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 45-50 minutes

6 cups (about 2 lbs) mixed berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries)

2 tablespoons maple syrup or coconut sugar

1 lemon, juiced (about 2 tablespoons)

2 tablespoons arrowroot or organic cornstarch

1 teaspoon vanilla

½ teaspoon cinnamon

¼ teaspoon salt

¾ cup rolled oats

½ cup gluten-free 1:1 flour blend or oat flour

⅓ cup packed coconut or brown sugar

⅓ cup vegan butter or coconut oil

1 teaspoon cinnamon

½ teaspoon fine sea salt

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 2 quart casserole dish or 9” square pan with vegan butter or coconut oil. Set aside.

Place the mixed berries in a large bowl. Fill the bowl with water so that the berries are completely covered. Add 1 tablespoon of Biokleen Produce Wash for each 16oz of water.

Soak the berries for 2 minutes. Use your hand to swish the berries around in the water. Pour the berries into a colander and rinse thoroughly.

Add the clean berries to a large bowl. Gently toss with maple syrup, lemon juice, vanilla, arrowroot, cinnamon, and salt. Pour into the prepared pan.

For the crumble topping, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar cinnamon, and salt in a mixing bowl. Add in the vegan butter or coconut oil. Use clean hands to crumble the fat into the dry mixture, until the dry ingredients are completely moistened and large clusters form. Sprinkle the crumble evenly over the berries.

Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the crisp is bubbling, and the crumble is golden brown on top. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. Keep any leftovers stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

As a mom of a toddler, stains are pretty much inevitable. Throw in fresh seasonal produce or summer recipes like this mixed berry crumble and we’re on to at least three outfit changes by the end of the day. Thankfully, Biokleen has the natural cleaning products to help me manage the messes.

Using cleaning products that are free from harsh chemicals is extremely important to me. Biokleen’s products are the only products I trust to be safe around my family and dogs while still effectively being able to clean my home and remove even the toughest stains. I feel good knowing there is no Phosphates, Chlorine, Ammonia, Brighteners, Artificial Colors or Artificial Fragrance. They're safe and effective, which as a mom, is all I ask for!

I can’t recommend stocking your home with Biokleen’s products to create your own all-natural cleaning arsenal enough. The Biokleen Produce Wash is a must for your everyday fruits and vegetables. The Bac-Out Stain + Odor Remover is great for pretreating stains on clothes or removing stains and odors from carpet. And since we all have laundry that never seems to end, the Biokleen Citrus Laundry Liquid and Biokleen Citrus Dryer Sheets are a must!

Make sure to stock up on these Biokleen products at your local retail store, or find them online at and You’ll never want to be without a Biokleen clean home.
